Carl W. Sommers, age 62, of Dennison, O., passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia, following a short illness.

Born on March 28, 1954 , Carl is the son of the late Carl Sommers and Helen (Prall) Powell.

Carl served in the United States Army from July 22, 1971 to July 18, 1973.  He was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of the Dover Moose, Eagles and a past member of the VFW.

On November 9, 1991, Carl married Tina (Archer) Sommers, who survives of the home.  Also surviving are his children Carl (Amy) Sommers Jr., Monica (Sam) Ulmer, Jason Sommers, Cierria (fiancé Matt Hren) Archer, Donna (Joe) Brooks and Josh (fiancé Vanessa Patterson) Sommers; his siblings Liz (Ray) Hamblin, Richard (Helen) Sommers and Thomas (Kelly) Powell; mother-in-law Diana Lorenz; 13 grandchildren who he was very close to; 13 nieces and nephews; a close aunt Donna Fowler and dear friend Theresa Gray.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Bob Sommers and Bill Corpman.

Funeral services for Carl will be held at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 (two hours prior to services) on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home or Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
