FRED TERAKEDIS

Fred Terakedis, 87, of Uhrichsville, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday,  December 10, 2017.

Born on April 2, 1930, in Uhrichsville, Fred was the son of Steve and Anna Terakedis, who precede him in death along with 9 siblings.

Fred married his high school sweetheart, Mildred (Sissie) Cummings on January 11, 1950 and would have celebrated 68 years of marriage this coming year.  She was the love of his life and together they raised 4 wonderful children: MaryAnn (Mark) Moreland, Sonny (Kris) Terakedis, Nancy Grafe, and Willie Terakedis, all whom survive him.

Fred was an avid sports enthusiast and particularly loved cheering on the Claymont Mustangs, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cincinnati Reds.  Fred coached many Twin City Youth teams, including his sons’ teams.  Rarely did a weekend go by without seeing Fred at local sporting events cheering on the Mustangs.  He truly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in their many sports and activities.

Besides his love for family and sports, Fred, as anyone who knew him would say, was a hard worker who took pride in the years he spent in the workforce, retiring after many years from Alsco.

In addition to his wife and children, Fred is also survived by one brother, Steve (Judy) Terakedis, and one sister, Carolyn (John) Williams.  Also surviving Fred include his grandchildren, Vince (Shannon) Terakedis; Aris (Brandi) Terakedis; Amber (Chad) Ohler; Melanie (John) Sivy; Ryan (Traci) Moreland; Melissa (Scott) Long; and Tommy (Brooke) Grafe; and great-grandchildren Macey, Brittany, Chloe, Caitlin, Arianna, Alec, Brianna, Lauren, Carson, Peyton, Cuyler, and Allie.  In addition, he was survived by his beloved dog, Petie.

Per Fred’s request, there will be no public visitation or services.  The family will celebrate Fred’s life at a private gathering.  Fred was Greek-Orthodox by faith.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Fred’s honor to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave., SW, New Philadelphia, O., 44663 or the Claymont Booster Club, P. O. Box 604, Uhrichsville, O., 44683, where Fred served as a member for many years.  The family would like to thank the Claymont Health and Rehabilitation Center for their care of Fred.
