GLENN AUTHUR ABBUHL

Glenn Authur Abbuhl, age 96, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Trinity Twin City Hospital in Dennison, following a short illness.

Born June 2, 1915 at Dennison, Glenn was the son of the late Authur and Sylvia Ethel (Patterson) Abbuhl.

In 1935, Glenn graduated from Dennison High School.  He was employed at Pennsylvania Railroad as a freight conductor until his retirement in 1976.   He was a Claymont City School bus driver for 5 years.  Glenn was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Uhrichsville.  He was also a life member of the Uhrichsville BPOE #424, the Dennison Eagles and the Railroad Club in Dennison.  Glenn enjoyed camping and traveling.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Hester M. (Morris) Abbuhl, who passed away on April 6, 2000; his sister Irene and 3 brothers Nile, Bob and Authur; his grandchildren Christine Demuth and Tom Edwards; great grandson Zach Abbuhl and great great grandson Brice Koile.

Glenn is survived by his children Karen L. Abbuhl and her friend Marsha Newkirk of Hilliard, Judith (Larry) Demuth of New Philadelphia, Gary G. (Goldie) Abbuhl of Newcomerstown and Kenneth (Linda) Abbuhl of Tuscarawas; 1 sister Dorothy Martie of Dennison, 2 sisters-in-law Janet N. Brick of Uhrichsville and Janet Abbuhl of Uhrichsville; 9 grandchildren Kenneth Abbuhl Jr. of Tuscarawas, Robert Abbuhl of Tuscarawas, Jan (Allen) Edwards of Newcomerstown, Gary Glenn (Lori) Abbuhl Jr. of Rapid City, SD, Geoffrey F. (Chantal) Abbuhl of Lillington, NC, Kathy (Bob) Dorsey of Port Washington, Hester (Jim) Colwell of Midvale, Becky (Gary) Koile of Tuscarawas, and Stanley (Decina) Demuth of Colorado Springs, CO; 18 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren; Glenn’s caregiver Shirley Quillen of Port Washington, his dog “Katie”, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors.

Funeral services for Glenn will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville, with the Rev. John Clark officiating.  Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m., on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church and Community Hospice.
