HOMER ELMER WEST
Homer Elmer West, age 93, of Gnadenhutten, O., passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017, at Claymont Health and Rehabilitation in Uhrichsvlle, following an extended illness.
Born on April 3, 1924 in Feed Springs, Homer was the son of the late Bert and Jessie E. (Utterbach) West. He retired in 1978 from Perma Glass Mesh Corporation after 21 years of service. Homer also spent fourteen and a half years at Stillwater Clay Plant. Although, his whole life was farming. He also enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Bacon Burners Camping Club and Buckeye Retirees Group.
On November 24, 1951 in Richmond, Indiana, Homer married Helen J. (Craigo) West, who survives of the home. Also surviving is his daughter Donna Jean Redfern of Gnadenhutten; grandchildren Rachel (Tom) Bowser, Solomon Cruz, Peggy Redfern and Jennifer Redfern; two great grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Homer is preceded in death by his siblings Helen Streeter, Ethel Nelson, Wayne , Herman, Harold and Tracy West and a granddaughter Bobbi Jo Kranz.
Funeral services for Homer will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville, with the Pastor David Koch and Pastor Sandra Cappel officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover.
Calling hours will be from 11 to 1 (two hours prior to services) on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the funeral home.
