Jack Joseph McKeown, age 81, of Uhrichsville and formerly of Gnadenhutten, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Riverside Manor in Newcomerstown.
Born on May 19, 1935 in Gnadenhutten, Jack was the son of the late Jack Derwin and Helen G. (Martin) McKeown.
Jack graduated from Gnadenhutten High School in 1953 and was employed at Cox Cable as a technician for 28 years. He was a member of the Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Men and a Lay Leader. Jack was also a member of the Indian Springs Ruritan Club, (formerly) the Gnadenhutten Clay Fire Department, Gnadenhutten July 4th Committee, President of the Gnadenhutten Chamber of Commerce, Gnadenhutten Council for 24 years, a manager of the Gnadenhutten Museum for 25 years and the Port Washington Lodge F & AM. Jack enjoyed woodworking.
Jack is survived by three children Jami J. (Kent) Stanley of Columbus, Jennifer J. (David) Ottowitz of West Allis, Wisconsin and Jacque J. (Donnie) Proctor of Martinsburg, West Virginia; a brother Jerry D. McKeown of New Philadelphia and one grandchild Corey J. Proctor.
In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his wife Barbara S. (Griffith) McKeown and two children Sherri Renee and Steven Troy.
Funeral services for Jack will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., at the Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Krapps officiating. Burial will follow at Gnadenhutten Clay Union Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home in Uhrichsville. Masonic service conducted by the Port Washington Masonic Lodge #202 F & AM will be held at 8:45 p.m.
