NORMA JEAN EDWARDS
Norma Jean Edwards, age 89, of Dover, formerly of Gnadenhutten, O., passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia, following complications from Alzheimer’s Dementia.
Born on July 1, 1926 at Uhrichsville-Rush Township, Norma was the daughter of the late Fred and Ester (Hicks) Helter.
Norma had attended the Rush Community Church of the Nazarene in Uhrichsville. She served on the Election Board for Tuscarawas County-Rush Township for many years, Central Community Chairperson for the Democratic Party for Rush Township, a member of the Lady Elks #424, and the Uhrichsville Moose #740. Norma loved baking, especially apple pie, going to the Moose dances and social events, traveling around the world and she loved her farm, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Norma is preceded in death by her husband Elmer L. Edwards, who passed away July 3, 1979; sisters Geraldine Foltz, Virginia Poland and Joyce Dunlap and great granddaughter Ella Kathleen Holmes.
Norma is survived by her children Gary L. Edwards, Deborah (Greg) Strickmaker and Fred (Kathy) Edwards all of Gnadenhutten; grandchildren Ryan (Chantal) Edwards of Lynchburg, VA, Angie (Bob) Holmes of Huron, Todd (Amy) Edwards of Brunswick, Keeley (Adam) Kochman of Gnadenhutten, Kristin (Jan Michael) Gintz of Columbus, Kimberly Marstrell (companion Michael Moore) of Columbus and Justin (Brandy) Edwards of Gnadenhutten; great grandchildren Caleb and Hayden Holmes, Kamille and Khloe Gintz and Olivia Grace Edwards.
Funeral services for Norma will be held at 1 p.m., on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville, with the Pastor Scot Caley officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia.
Calling hours will be from 11 to 1, (two hours prior to services) on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at the funeral home.
