RICHARD DEAN PRESTON

Richard Dean Preston, age 81, of Gnadenhutten, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at the Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia.

Born on April 23, 1935 in Uhrichsville, Richard was the son of the late Charlie and Emma (Franklin) Preston.

Richard attended Uhrichsville High School and was the owner of the Standard Oil Service Station in the 1950-60’s.  He was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of the West Union United Methodist Church in Gilmore.  Richard like the outdoors, hunting and spending time with his cat “Kitty Cat”.

Richard is survived by his wife Emma L. (Bowen) Preston of the home; his daughter Tammy (Dino) Pileggi of Massillon; his siblings James (Peggy) Preston of Albany, Oregan, George (Dottie) Preston of Gnadenhutten, Deloris McGlothlin of Uhrichsville and Helen Delong of Canton; two grandchildren Kayla Freeman of Dennison and Samantha Freeman of Bowerston; three great grandchildren Tyson Harig of Dennison, Zailei and Zoei Leggett both of Bowerston, sister-in-law Joyce Preston and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by two brothers Robert and Chuck Preston.

Funeral services for Richard will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 2 p.m., at the West Union United Methodist Church in Gilmore, with the Pastor Garry Marlatt officiating.

Calling hours will be from 12 to 2 p.m., (two hours prior to services) on Monday, December 19, 2016 at the church.
