ROBERT LEROY ROMIG

Robert Leroy Romig, age 96, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at Claymont Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on March 2, 1920 in Uhrichsville, Robert was the son of the late Ray R. and Frieda (Braunt) Romig.

In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by two children Robert Romig Jr. and James W. Romig; his siblings Harold and Ralph Romig, Margaret Besozzi, Florence West, Francis Watkins and Phyllis Stucin.

Robert served in the United States Army and was employed at the Sewer Pipe Superior Plant #2 and Penn Railroad Yard and Section Gang 1930 – 1940’s.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and all around outdoorsman.  Robert also enjoyed playing guitar, harmonica, mandolin and various other musical instruments.  He was always willing to sit and converse with family and friends, entertaining with music, jokes and numerous stories.  Robert was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Hillview Baptist Church in Port Washington.

Robert is survived by his children Elizabeth Eileen (Rocco) Civiello of Uhrichsville, Juanita (Bill) Westlake of Canton, Freida Marie Romig of Canton; brother Donald Romig of Columbus; daughters-in-law Sandy Romig of Bowerston, Charlotte Romig of Navarre; 22 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews including special nephew Butch (Marla) Watkins.

Father Tyron Tomson will celebrate a funeral liturgy at 1 p.m., on Monday, October 31, 2016, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville.  Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville.

Calling hours will be from 11 to 1 p.m., (two hours prior to services) on Monday, October 31, 2016 at the funeral home.
