RICHARD A. “DICK” SHAFFER

Richard A. “Dick” Shaffer, age 84, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio.

Born April 29, 1939, in Uhrichsville, Ohio, Dick is the son of the late Jackson and Helen C. (Porcher) Shaffer.

Dick was a maintenance man at Associated Grocers until 1990.  He also had his own refuse business for 50 years and recently hauling lime stone.  He was a member of the Moose Family Center #740 and a member of the Uhrichsville Nazarene Church.  Dick enjoyed working on autos.

On November 26, 1960, Dick married Martha L. (Watkins) Shaffer, who survives of the home.  Also surviving is their son Bruce (Peggy) Shaffer of Uhrichsville; a sister Doris Dague; sister-in-law Linda Shaffer; grandchildren Kacey (Michelle) Shaffer and Ashton (Kasey) Shaffer; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by a son Ernest “Ernie” Shaffer, who passed away October 18, 2018; siblings Robert “Bob” Shaffer, John Albert “Abe” Shaffer and Harold “Buff” Shaffer.

A memorial service for Dick will be held at 3 p.m., on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Uhrichsville Church of the Nazarene, with the Pastor Mike Travis officiating.

Calling hours will be from 1 to 3, (two hours prior to services) on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the church.
