Beverly Joyce Roth

Beverly Joyce (Rainsberg) Roth, 78, of Sharon Valley (New Philadelphia), Ohio, became an angel on August 8, 2017, after fighting a short but fierce battle with pancreatic cancer.

A daughter of Wilford R. “Ray” Rainsberg and Mildred Iona (Petry) Rainsberg, Beverly was born in a log cabin outside Gnadenhutten on her grandparents’ farm on Petry Hill Road. She grew up in in the Riverside neighborhood and was a graduate of the class of 1957 at Tuscarawas Warwick High School.

On January 28, 1961, she married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Roth, with whom she was married more than 57 years. Shortly after their marriage, the couple purchased their farm in Sharon Valley.

Beverly began her 32-year banking career with the United Bank in the bookkeeping department and later served as a teller, loan officer, branch manager of the Tuscarawas branch and administrator of retirement accounts. She also became a certified financial planner and notary.

She later started an 18-year career in the investment industry when she became the senior branch office administrator for Edward Jones in the office of broker Bob Gorgas in New Philadelphia. Her warm personality and vast knowledge made her a favorite among clients and coworkers alike. She retired in 2006.

Beverly served as treasurer of Saint James Lutheran Church in Tuscarawas for 35 years and served on the church council. She was a founding member of the Tuscarawas County Beekeepers Club along with her husband, Jerry. She and Jerry were often found at farm markets selling honey with the couple’s Sharon Valley Honey Farm. Beverly and her husband Jerry also partnered with their daughter Connie and son-in-law Mark in raising buckskin Quarter Horses at their farm.

Beverly enjoyed nature, wildlife and traveling with her family. Her bright smile, sweet personality, deep faith and steadfast loyalty to her family and friends will be greatly missed.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Mildred Rainsberg; and two brothers, Terry Rainsberg and Randy Rainsberg. She is survived by her husband, Jerry, of Sharon Valley; daughter, Connie Roth Lechleitner, and son-in-law, Mark, of Sharon Valley; sister, Jean (Robert) Simmons of Uhrichsville; sister-in-law Marge West of Uhrichsville; brother-in-law Richard Roth of Pueblo, Colorado; along with several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes, no calling hours or funeral will be held; however the family will host a Celebration of Life on Sunday, August 27, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a brief prayer service at 3:30 p.m. at the Tuscarawas VFW Post 7943, 412 North Main Street, Tuscarawas, Ohio 44682. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice of New Philadelphia, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or St. James Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 336, Tuscarawas, Ohio 44682.
