Clara I. Benedict

February 7, 1929 ~ April 11, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

CLARA I. BENEDICT

Clara Isabel Benedict, age 88, of Gnadenhutten, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.

Born February 7, 1929 in Minerva, Ohio, she is the daughter of the late George Albert and Salina Mae (Underwood) Benedict.

She was a member of the Rush Community Church of the Nazarene in Uhrichsville, Ohio where she was a VBS craft teacher for many years and was voted Mother of the Year in 1975.

She enjoyed spending time in her vegetable and flower gardens, crocheting, sewing, canning, farming, cooking, reading, time with family and friends and was an extremely accurate shot with a firearm. Some even referred to her as "Annie Oakley of Gilmore"

The families of the neighborhood knew when the school bus would get stranded in the winter due to her icy road, she would have her home prepared for all of the children with large pots of homemade soup and an area for them to do their homework (after) they each called home so their parents knew
they were safe.

She is survived by her children: George William (Barbara) Jones of Hammer, SC, Charlotte Mae Jones of Uhrichsville, OH, Marcianne Alice LaVon Clark of Carrolton, OH, Juanita Marie Workman of New Philadelphia, OH, Theresa Darlene Walsh of Canton, OH, Charles Eric Jones of Geneva, OH, Lora Kay (Keith) Taggart of Tippecanoe, OH, Nathan Edwin (Kimberly) Jones (of the home) Gnadenhutten, OH, 30 Grandchildren and many, many Great-Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, along with a sister Caroline Irene (Benedict) Cvengros, lifelong companion and friend Charles W. Jones Jr., 3 infant sons Raymond Matthew Jones and 2 stillborn and Granddaughter Salina Marie Jones.

Upon her wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services. There will be a time of reflection for the family on a future date.

The family would like to take the opportunity to say Thank You to Hospice Care of New Philadelphia, OH and Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home of Uhrichsville, OH.

Our heartfelt appreciation to, Kimberly Sue Jones of the home for her around the clock care for Momma so that she was able to spend her remaining days in her home. We Love You Beyond Measure.
