ALEXANDRA “TANA” EDWARDS

Alexandra “Tana” Edwards, age 93, of Uhrichsville stepped into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, March 2, 2025 following a brief illness.  She was born on September 30, 1931 at her parent’s home in Uhrichsville, Ohio.  She was the daughter of Gust and Evanthia (Yogmour) Sedares.

Tana was a graduate of the Uhrichsville High School Class of 1950.  She married her High School sweetheart; Thomas E. Edwards Jr. on Spetember 21, 1952 and they celebrated almost 65 years of marriage before Tom’s passing on June 16, 2017.

She worked at Richard’s Shoe Store and in the offices of Dr. Jay Williams and Indian Village Motors, retiring in 1985.  She was a member of the 1st Moravian Church of Uhrichsville, Ohio for over 72 years.  She was active in the choir, the Women’s fellowship and served on several boards at the church.  Tana volunteered in the office at Eastport Elementary School for many years.  She served at the Twin City food pantry and volunteered at Trinity Hospital for 50 years.

She was a member of Review Club and a local Card club.  She especially enjoyed meeting with the Classy Classmates Club; a group of friends from high school that had been meeting for over 60 years.

She is survived by her four children, T. James (Judy) Edwards of Alliance, Ohio, Eva (Tom) Wolfe of Sunbury, Ohio, Connie (Robert deceased) Young of Uhrichsville, Ohio and Doug (Bonnie) Edwards of New Philadelphia, Ohio.  A sister-in-law Nelda Sedares and cousin Peggy Pritz.  Nine grandchildren; Nicole (Eric) Brown, Vincent (Kaitlin) Edwards, Sara (Jared) Shaw, Brent (Lindsey) Wolfe, Melissa Young, Ty (Jessica) Young, Michelle (Cory) Sproul, Jessica (Eric) Mackey and Nathan (Allyson) Edwards.

Sixteen great grandchildren, Isaac and Gabriel Brown, Grace Edwards, Alexandra Hastings, Brynlee and Dawson Wolfe, Wadson (Sabrinnah) Pierre, Loulou and Luckson Young, Kendra, Mason and Colton Young, Lilian and Olivia Sproul, Peyson Mackey and Mabel Edwards.  One great-great grandchild, Avani Pierre.

In addition to her husband and parents, Tana was preceded in death by her brother Staley (Sonny) Sedares and her sister-in-law Marlene (Edwards) Shark and In-laws Thomas and Estella Edwards.  Her son-in-law Bob Young and daughter-in-law Penny (Clark) Edwards.

Calling hours will be from 5:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc.  Funeral services for Tana will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 7, 2025 at the 1st Moravian Church of Uhrichsville with Pastor David Geyer officiating.

Graveside services will follow at Fry’s Valley Cemetery in New Philadelphia, Ohio, with a luncheon to follow in the church social hall at the 1st Moravian Church in Uhrichsville.
