BETTY JANE CHREST
On Sunday morning, January 2, 2022, Betty Jane Chrest set sail for her heavenly home.
Born to Edward L. and Dora (Edwards) Fouts on September 22, 1925, this vibrant 96 year old cared for others all her life. No recipe escaped her special twist or added herb. Her sewing skills and “loving homemaking” made her family feel very special.
Betty and her wonderful husband raised two happy children, teaching them the honesty of hard work and the beauty of devotion. Tenents of their family life included, first and foremost, trust in Jesus as their Savior. They appreciated and embraced nature’s wonder. Betty and Sam were known for putting feet to their compassion by helping others and making the world sweeter and kinder.
Betty is survived by: her daughter Carol (William) Lee of Sawyer, MI; grandchildren Anna Chrest, Daniel Chrest of Richmond, KY, Amanda (Michael) Sartor of Stevensville, MI; siblings Kenneth Edward Fouts and Janice (Vern) Baldwin; plus many lovely nieces and a nephew.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel J. Chrest, son, Edward E. Chrest, and sister, Wilma Chrest.
There will be visitation at 11 AM for one hour and a service at noon on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church in Uhrichsville, Ohio. Pastor Kory Rowland will officiate.
Due to Covid, we kindly ask you wear a mask and social distance while at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia.
