BILLIE ANN PETERSON
age 85 of Uhrichsville, Ohio passed away at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia on July 15, 2015. Billie Ann was born Aug. 19, 1929 in Bannock, Ohio, the daughter of the late
William and Ann Sambuco. She graduated from Martins Ferry High School in 1946.
On June 24, 1950 she married Warren S. Peterson and together they shared 62 years of marriage before his passing on July 25,2012.
Billie Ann held several jobs throughout her life including work as a teachers aide at Trenton Ave. Elementary in Uhrichsville, deli clerk at Market Basket and Clayland IGA and clerk at Morris Dry Cleaners. She enjoyed attending and supporting the many activities her children, then
grandchildren were involved in including football, wrestling, band, basketball, dance, track, and cross country. In her later years she traveled to visit her children and grandchildren in Idaho, California, and Las Vegas, to name a few. She was always up for a trip to a casino to play her favorite penny slots or dinner out with family or friends. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Uhrichsville for over 50 years where she served as a Deacon, was a member of Presbyterian Women and sang in the choir. She also volunteered at the Twin City Christian Service food pantry in Uhrichsville.
In addition to her parents and husband, Billie Ann was preceded in death by her brother Mike Sambuco and sister Barb McKinney. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Warren R. (Verna) Peterson of Danville, Calif., William "Bill" Peterson of Indianapolis, Ind.,
Joel (Cindy) Peterson of Uhrichsville, Ohio, Dan (Lisa) Peterson of Kailua, Hawaii, Jewelann Roush of Massillon, Ohio; Grandchildren Ali Peterson, Lisa Peterson, Jason (Rachel) Peterson, Josh Peterson, Aaron Peterson, Brittany (Chad) Walker, Racheal (Jessie) Ellis, Justin Peterson, Danny (Victoria) Peterson, Jr., Aubriann Roush, Alaina Roush; Step Grandchildren, David (Sari) Poole, Erick (Brittany) Poole, Malia Poole; Great grandchildren, Waylen and Talyn Peterson, Sienna, Alden and Luke Peterson, Rylie, Madisyn and Trenton Walker; step-great grandchildren, Cadence and Cail Poole; and her nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services for Billie Ann will be held on Wednesday, July 22 at 7 p.m. at Uhrich-Hostetler English Funeral Home, Inc. in Uhrichsville with Rev. Mark Unrue officiating. Calling hours will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. (3 hours prior to the service). In lieu of flowers, donations in Billie's name may be made to The First Presbyterian Church, 633 N. Main St. Uhrichsville, OH, 44683 or to Community Hospice House, 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663. The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring people at Hospice House for taking such great care of our Mom in her final weeks.
