Blaine Richard Riggs, age 83, of Uhrichsville, passed on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Dennison, O., on August 1, 1931, Blaine was the son of the late Jacob F. and Alice M. (Arnold) Riggs.
In addition to his parents, Blaine is preceded in death by 2 brothers Jacob and Gary Riggs; 2 sisters Alice LeMonte and Frances Iler and his wife Marjorie Ann (Miller) Riggs.
Blaine graduated from Dennison High School. He served in the United States Army from August 9, 1948 to May 7, 1952. Blaine was employed at Ohio Bell Telephone for 38 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Uhrichsville Moose and a life member of the Dennison Eagles, the Uhrichsville Elks and the American Legion of Uhrichsville. Blaine enjoyed going out to eat with friends and spending time with his family.
Blaine is survived by two sons Steve Riggs of Dennison and Scott Riggs of Uhrichsville; two sisters Patricia (Ralph) Edwards of Uhrichsville and Judy Riggs of Texas.
In keeping with Blaine’s wishes, cremation will take place. A graveside memorial service will be held at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville at a later date.
