CARL GERALD SWAIN SR.

Carl Gerald Swain Sr., age 69, of Gnadenhutten, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly, on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Union Hospital in Dover.

Born May 27, 1951, in Salem, Illinois, Gerald is the son of the late Carl F. and Vada M. (Hicks) Swain.

Gerald graduated from Cardington Lincoln High School. He was employed in the Oil Fields as a rig man and pumper until his retirement in 2000. Gerald enjoyed softball in his younger days, watching sports on TV and yard sales.

In addition to his parents, Gerald is preceded in death by his wife Sharon (Platz) Swain, who passed away on November 17, 2012 and a daughter Kelly Welch.

Gerald is survived by his children Rob (Erin) Matz of Erie, Pennsylvania, Carl (Amy) Swain Jr. of Wainwright, Michelle (Daniel) Glover of Cambridge, Chris (Katrina) Swain of Athens, Jimmy (Sara) Swain of Dennison; siblings Carolyn (John) Poland of Newcomerstown, Linda (Dave) Truax of Cardington, Mike (Diane) Swain of Uhrichsville and Bill (Peggy) Swain of Mt. Gilead; son-in-law TJ Welch; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and his 4 legged best friend “Buddy”.

In keeping with Gerald’s wishes, no services or calling hours will be observed.
