DONNA FAY COX
Donna Fay Cox, formerly of Tuscarawas and most recently a resident of Park Village Health Care Center at New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2026 while in the care of Ohio’s Hospice of New Philadelphia.
Born April 28, 1926 in Goshen to the late John E. and Hazel M. Wilson Walton, she would have celebrated her milestone 100th birthday on April 28, 2026. She was a graduate of Tuscarawas-Warwick High School Class of 1944.
Following graduation she worked in Canton at the Hoover Company and retired from Hart’s Family Center in New Philadelphia. Donna was a life member of St. James Lutheran Church in Tuscarawas.
On December 30, 1946 Donna married William D. Cox and together they celebrated 63 years of marriage in a house they built in Warwick Township before his passing in September 2009.
The couple raised three children Christina (Jim) Hopkins and Susan Zadra, both of Tuscarawas, and Mark W. (Sandy) Cox of New Philadelphia. Four grandchildren Matt (Tricia) Hopkins, Aaron (Tanya) Hopkins, Michael (Julie) Meechan and Ella Elliott, 13 great-grandchildren Bianca, Will, Nate, Maddie, Sonny, Ashlinn, Alaina, Emily, Ethan, Brianna, Kylar, Rylan, Brayden; four great-great granddaughters and a great-great granddaughter due in October. She also is survived by her sister, Betty McGarry of Ormond Beach, FL; sister-in-law Kay Walton of Dover and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Brown and Flo Lorenz and a brother, John E. Walton II.
A graveside service for Donna will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at the St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery in Tuscarawas, with the Rev. Wally Anderson officiating.
