EDITH LOUISE STANEART

Edith Louise Staneart, age 95, of Gnadenhutten, O., passed away at Ohio’s Hospice New Philadelphia, O., on December 1, 2025.

Edith was born to the late Donald and Susie Gay (Boston) Wertenberger in Akron, O., on December 30, 1929.

After graduating from Tusky High School as Valedictorian Edith went on to receive a business degree at Bliss Business College in Columbus, O.  Edith and her husband Gene, owned and operated Staneart Equipment in Uhrichsville for over 40 years, where she was the secretary/treasurer.  Edith enjoyed gardening, was an excellent cook and was very active in her church.  A member of the Uhrichsville Presbyterian Church, Edith was on the Board of Session, a previous deacon and she taught Sunday School.

On August 21, 1949, Edith married Charles Gene Staneart at the Sharon Moravian Church in Tusky.  Gene passed away August 1, 2010.  In addition to her parents and husband, Edith is preceded in death by her siblings Donald Wertenberger and Carol Phillips.

Edith is survived by her children Richard Staneart of the home and Linda (Jerry) White of Wolcottville, Indiana, four grandchildren Jerry (Ashley) White of Noblesville, Indiana, Richard (Melanie) White of Dayton, O., Joseph White of Charlotte, North Carolina and Colin (Andie) White of Defiance, O.; eight great grandchildren and six nephews.

Family and friend may visit from 11 to 12, (one hour prior to services) on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. in Uhrichsville.  Funeral services for Edith will be held at 12 p.m., on Saturday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Andrew McClung officiating.  Burial will follow at Gnadenhutten Clay Union Cemetery in Gnadenhutten, O.
