EDWARD “BUTCH” FRANKLIN JOHNSON
Edward “Butch” Franklin Johnson, age 78, of Scio, O., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 20, 2015. Born May 29, 1937 at New Philadelphia, Butch was the son of the late Dwight and Laura (Davidson) Johnson.
In 1955, Butch graduated from New Philadelphia High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1960, where he was a paratrooper and was in the Army Rifle Team. He was employed at H & M Tire in Carrolton for 40 years. Butch enjoyed horse racing and the Kentucky Derby.
In addition to his parents, Butch is preceded in death by his wife June Johns Johnson, who passed away in 1970; a sister Margaret Cook; a brother Dwight Johnson and one grandchild.
Butch is survived by his fiancé of 16 years Dorsey Strock of Bowerston; his children Troy (Kristi) Johnson of Clearwater, Florida, Jovon (Rodrick) Hyde of Brandon, Florida, Greg (Mary) Wade of Elizabethtown, Kentucky and Mike (Kim) Wade of Jewett; a sister Alma (Al) Herndon of Tappan Lake, O.; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Butch will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 24, 2015 at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville, with the Rev. Mike Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Scio (Tappan Lake) with military graveside services conducted by the Midvale VFW Post #9620.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the funeral home.
