ELMA VIVIAN MAXWELL

Elma Vivian Maxwell, age 98, formerly of Uhrichsville, OH, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Woodbury Wellness Center in Hampstead, North Carolina.

The daughter of the late Mary and Clyde Allensworth, Vivian was born on September 9, 1924.  She was a graduate of Uhrichsville High School.

On June 11, 1944, Vivian married Harold Eugene (Gene) Maxwell of Dennison, OH.  They enjoyed a long and happy life together with their three children.  Gene passed away on April 18, 2010.

Vivian was employed for many years in the office at Uhrichsville High School and later as secretary to the Superintendent at Claymont High School.  She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church and belonged to many charity women’s clubs, serving the church and community.  She especially enjoyed playing Mahjong and bingo.  Vivian was also an avid golfer all her adult life, even into her later years.

However, her greatest joy was spending time with and enjoying her family.  She will be greatly missed by all her family and those many friends she made along the way.  She will be loved and remembered always.

Surviving children are Ann (Gary) Marburger of Pickerington, OH, Jay (Loretta) Maxwell of Troy, MI, Trisha (J. D.) Thompson of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren Bryan (Cecilia) Marburger of New Albany, OH, Amanda (Matt) Guigar of Shelby Township, MI, Elizabeth (David) Flores of Mundelein, FL, Ashlyn Thompson of Wilmington, NC, and Alejandra Thompson of Wilmington, NC; great grandchildren Maxwell Lee, Olivia, Alexis, Savanna, Isabella and Maxwell Alexander; nieces and nephews.

Vivian was preceded in death by her siblings Robert Allensworth and Dorothy Williamson.

Funeral services for Vivian will be held at 1 p.m., on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, in Uhrichsville, OH, with the Pastor Kory Rowland officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville, OH.

Calling hours are from 11 to 1 (two hours prior to services) on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at the funeral home.
