Gary Joe Edwards, age 76, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at Beacon Pointe Rehab Center in Uhrichsville, following a lengthy illness.
Born June 4, 1939, at Uhrichsville, Gary was the son of the late Carl B. and Georgia V. (Hunt) Edwards.
In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his wife Linda (Wolfe) Edwards, who passed away in May 2011; a son Michael Edwards and two brothers Don and Delbert Edwards.
In 1958, Gary graduated from Uhrichsville High School. He was employed at Alsco in Gnadenhutten. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of the Rush Community Church of the Nazarene in Uhrichsville. Gary loved to work on his farm, horseback riding, NASCAR and watching football.
Gary is survived by his son David (Star) Edwards of Uhrichsville; sister Norma J. (Lester) Shinaberry of Uhrichsville and three grandchildren Destiny Edwards, Lacey Gonzales, Nicholas Sanner; other grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Gary will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, November 16, 2015, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville, with the Rev. Brett Warkentine officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Park in New Philadelphia.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m., on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the funeral home.
