GERTRUDE IRENE SAPERITO

Gertrude Irene Saperito, age 92, of New Philadelphia, O., passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, O.

Gertrude was born March 20, 1933 in Guernsey County, O., she was the daughter of the late Ephriam and Hannah (Korns) Thornton.

She was employed at the Country Club Retirement and Valley Manor now Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing at Schoenbrunn as a nurse’s aide for many years.  Gertrude liked to bake, watch TV while yelling at Bob Barker, cooking shows and embroidery.

Gertrude is survived by her daughter Janie (Love) Roup of Barnhill; grandchildren Tonya Kerns (Jim Jaberg), Butch (Amber) Roup, James Roup (Charity Rose), Tosha Roup (David Napier); great grandchildren Madison, Brennan, Jordan, Logan, Gavin (Alyssa) Haydn, Cloey, Maddie, Tyson and Torie; great great grandchildren Weston, Laiklyn, Oakley and Oliver.

In addition to her parents, Gertrude is preceded in death by her husband James J. Saperito; a daughter Cookie Leavers; grandchild Jesse Roup; siblings Harold, Eddie, Wanda and Charles.

Funeral services for Gertrude will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc., in Uhrichsville, with the Pastor Larry Fletcher officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dennison.  Following committal, the family would like you to join them for a bereavement dinner at the Midvale Park Pavilion.

Calling hours will be from 11 to 1, (two hours prior to services) on Friday, at the funeral home.
