JAMES “JIM” B. SMITH

 

James “Jim” B. Smith, 70, of Bowerston, passed away on Wednesday, December 7th 2022 after a brief illness.  Born November 30th 1952, he was the youngest child of the late William and Virginia (Caldwell) Smith.

Jim was a 1970 graduate of Conotton Valley High School.  He was a man of many talents that included work in welding, electrical, maintenance and woodworking and was employed by many local businesses through the years.  He loved the outdoors.  He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing and boating.

In 1995, Jim married the love of his life, the former Jane E. Page, whom he enjoyed 27 years of marriage.  They enjoyed watching both professional football and baseball games together, working on their garden and spending time with their blended family.

Jim is survived by four children Jamie and Jason Smith, Juli Shaw and Missy (Jeremy) Murray; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with one expecting; brother Eugene (Nancy) Smith; several nieces and nephews; special friend Jamie Wright, who was like a son to him and his cat Moo.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a sister Janet Novak and a stepson Craig Allen Page.

According to Jim’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation or service and he will be buried at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville.
