Joseph E. Fisher, age 94, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015, at Park Village in Dover, following a brief illness.
Born April 12, 1921 at Uhrichsville, Joe was the son of the late Harry E. and Clarice (Schupp) Fisher.
In 1939, Joe graduated from Uhrichsville High School and served in the U. S. Navy in the South Pacific. He was employed as a car postal employee for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Joe was a member of the Uhrichsville First Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon and Trustee. Joe was very active in the Tuscarawas County Coin Club and the Uhrichsville Alumni. He enjoyed baseball, watching the Cleveland Indians, collecting stamps, telling stories and visiting with people.
Joe is survived by nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Florence H. (Shean) Fisher whom he married August 2, 1941 and who passed away August 29, 2009; a sister Ruth (Don) Gibson and brother Carl W. Fisher.
Funeral services for Joe will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville, with the Rev. Mark Unrue officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville.
Calling hours will be from 12 to 1, (one hour prior to services) on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 633 N. Main St., Uhrichsville, O., 44683.
