LARRY W HOOPINGARNER

Larry W Hoopingarner, age 85, of Dennison, O., passed away at his residence on Sunday, June 18, 2023, following a brief illness.

Born September 10, 1937, in Canton, O., Larry was the son of the late Woodrow W and Elmira L. (Brandt) Hoopingarner.

Larry is a United States Air Force Veteran, having served from 1955 to 1959. For many years, he was employed in the coal mine, having worked at Valley Mining and Daron Coal where he drove the rock truck.

He was a member of the Uhrichsville Eagles, Moose and a life member of the VFW.  Larry enjoyed bowling, camping, Midvale Speedway and helping his brother with his race car. 

In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by a daughter Tammy Woods and twin sisters.

Larry is survived by his children Larry (Janice) Steiner of Wingate, NC, Woodrow W Hoopingarner II of Cardington, O., Tina Smitley (George Yinger) of New Philadelphia, O., David (Mindy) Hoopingarner of Dennison, O.; siblings Ronald W (Sue) Hoopingarner of Dennison, O., and Lucille E. “Cis” Hoopingarner of Dennison; eleven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one great great grandson and a great grandson on the way and his little dog Candy.

Funeral service for Larry will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, June 23, 2023, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. in Uhrichsville, with the Pastor Wallace Anderson officiating.  Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover, O.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Hospital and the Tuscarawas County Humane Society.
