MARJORY (BARNETT) SHERRELL
Marjory (Barnett) Sherrell, age 89, formerly of Dennison, O., and currently living in Bolivar with her son Monte and daughter-in-law Kim, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2015, after a period of declining health.
She was born in Uhrichsville on December 20, 1925 to the late James and Ivery (Dokes) Barnett. She retired from BJVS and was a graduate of Uhrichsville high School and attended Wilberforce College. Marjory was a lifelong and active member of the St. John’s Worship and Praise Church in Uhrichsville. She was a former Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Missionary Society and the Naomi Chapter #85 Order of the Eastern Star. She devoted her life to caring for her family which included her church family. Her strong faith in God was a comfort to her and an inspiration to all that knew her and loved her.
Marjory was married July 3, 1948 to Roosevelt Sherrell, who preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by three sons, Steve Sherrell of Dennison, Monte Sherrell (Kim Ernest) of Bolivar with whom she resided and Mitchell Sherrell of Akron. Three brothers Melvin (Juanita) Barnett of Detroit, Otis Barnett of Detroit and Charles (Shirley) Barnett of Moreno Valley, CA; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 god children and a host of nieces and nephews. Marjory was preceded in death by her brothers Onesar “Pete” Barnett, James Barnett; sister Charyleyn Clemons; sisters-in-law Naomi Barnett, Janice Barnett and Early Barnett and grandson Nick Hunter.
Funeral services for Marjory will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 in the St. John’s Worship and Praise Church in Uhrichsville with the Rev. Archie Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery of Uhrichsville.
Calling hours will be from 11 to 1 (two hours prior to services) on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to the St. John’s Worship and Praise Church or Community Hospice.
