MARY MARTHA GAMBS

Mary Martha Gambs, age 94, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Union Hospital in Dover.

Mary was born November 2, 1921 in Uhrichsville, she was the daughter of the late Harry M. and Jessie S. (Figley) Burdette.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband William J. Gambs, who passed away on October 12, 1991; sisters Bernice Gamble, Etta Morrison, Jessie Burdette; brothers Pete, Laurell, Harry and Byron Burdette and son-in-law Dwight Boles.

In 1940, Mary graduated from Uhrichsville High School.  She was a member of the Uhrichsville Church of God, Red Hat Society, Senior Keep in Touch Club and VFW Auxiliary in Dover.  Mary enjoyed playing bingo.

Mary is survived by her children Gloria Boles, John (Vickie) Gambs, Art (Holly) Gambs, Blaine Gambs all of Uhrichsville, Darrell Gambs of Clearwater, Florida; a niece Shirley Schupp of New Philadelphia; 8 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a great great grandson expected soon and special neighbors Marilyn and Donnie Garret.

Funeral services for Mary will be held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville with the Pastor Earl Miller officiating.  Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville.

Calling hours will be from 12 to 2 p.m., (two hours prior to services) on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the funeral home.
