MARY SUE KERNS
Together Again
Mary Sue Kerns, age 85, of Gnadenhutten, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025 in her home.
Born April 17, 1940 in Macfarlan, West Virginia, Mary was the daughter and last surviving child of the late Walter A. and Edna Dale (Woofter) Davis.
On June 7, 1958, she married her husband of nearly 60 years, William Leroy Kerns, who preceded her on May 27, 2018.
Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking and sewing. Mary was often asked to bring her macaroni salad and cranberry salad to family dinners. Mary was a longtime member of the Uhrichsville Foursquare Church, “The Lighthouse” and had recently attended the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church.
Mary is survived by her children, Jennifer Brick of Upper Arlington, Jeff Kerns of New Philadelphia, Susan Emhoff of Uhrichsville and Tim Kerns of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren Sara (Mike) Marlatt and Nick (Ashley) Kerns of Dover, Kari (Michael) Heinze of Columbus and Katie Emhoff of Tuscarawas; ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and in-laws.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded by her brothers Alfred, Ralph, Ed, Sharon, Chuck and Jimmy; sister Merelene and her favorite son-in-law Paul Brick.
Funeral services for Mary will be held at 12 noon, on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. in Uhrichsville, with the Pastor Jeff Gerber officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville.
Calling hours will be from 11to 12 (one hour prior to services) on Saturday, at the funeral home.
