MINNIE JOE BROWN
Minnie Joe Brown, 88 of Uhrichsville, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2019, at Union Hospital in Dover. She was born in Dennison on October 5, 1932, the daughter of the late James and Ida B. (Olmstead) Alexander.
Minnie graduated from Midvale High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Dennison where she was Past Correspondence for the sick and shut-in, member of the Missionary Society, President Pastor’s Aide Society and Vice President Usher Board. Minnie enjoyed sewing, macramé, crocheting, wood crafting and she loved children.
On September 14, 1955, Minnie married Otis Brown. He passed away on June 22, 2001. In addition to her parents and husband, Minnie is preceded in death by a daughter Joanne Walker Green, four sisters and four brothers.
Minnie is survived by her sisters Shirley Webster of Youngstown, Linda Alexander of Buffalo, NY, Phyllis Green, Priscilla (LeRoy) Barino, Sandra Alexander and Janet Collins all of Canton, and Margery Hammond of Columbus; granddaughter E. Marie Walker Tolbert of Cincinnati; four great grandchildren Sean V. Otis Tolbert II, Cameron, Cory and Amber Tolbert all of Cincinnati; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Minnie will be held at 12 noon on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Dennison, with the Rev. Archie Jackson officiating. Calling hours will be from 11 to 12, (one hour prior to services) on Friday, December 18, 2020, at the church. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville. Masks and social distancing will be required.
