Robert E. Crawford, 71, of Dennison, passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born March 9, 1944 in Mt. Vernon, he was the son of the late Henry Ellsworth Crawford and Katherine (Beaves) Kelly.
Bob graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1962 and went on to serve in the United States Navy, on board the USS Coral Sea CVA-43, Air Craft Carrier. A Vietnam Veteran, Bob proudly served his country as a photographer. He was employed at Giant Eagle (Bag-N-Save) as a manager for 24 years until retirement, and was a member of both the Uhrichsville Elks #424 and Tuscarawas VFW Post #7943. Bob enjoyed golf, photography, and vacations to Las Vegas. He was a "purveyor of facts" on a wide range of subjects and held a great appreciation and love for music and movies. He will be remembered by his quick wit and amicable nature.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Christine A. (Allensworth) Crawford, whom he married on Oct. 25, 1981; the light of his life, his daughter Ariana Crawford; niece, Amber Allensworth; two sisters, Joyce (William) Thompson and Linda (Allen) Lanham; brothers-in-law, James Allensworth, Robert (Rhonda) Allensworth, Gary (Wendy) Allensworth; life time friend,
Fred Baldeschwiler; and multiple nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Community Hospice House for the exceptional care.
A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 at the Uhrichsville Elks #424, 324 N. Uhrich St., Uhrichsville.
