Robert Lewis Hilliker I, age 81, of New Philadelphia, O., passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015, following a lengthy illness.
Born on December 24, 1933 in Dennison, O., Robert was the son of the late William L. and Florence L. (Lash) Hilliker.
In 1953, Robert graduated from Dennison High School. He worked at Clay City Sewer Pipe before enlisting in the U. S. Navy, having served from February 14, 1955 until February 7, 1957. Upon returning from the Navy, he was employed at the Timken Steel Company for 27 years. Robert enjoyed bowling, golfing, bingo, going to the casinos and his dog “Jody Pup”.
Robert is survived by his children William (Peg Vincent) Hilliker of Bowerston and Robert (Kim) Hilliker II of Uhrichsville; son-in-law Michael Rickey Sr. of Port Washington; his step daughter Davian (Robert) Sanner of New Philadelphia; his siblings William Hilliker of Uhrichsville and Jane Ann (Rod) Jarvis of Strasburg; grandchildren Mark (Jane) Striker, John (Megan) Striker, William Hilliker II, Shawna Hilliker, Pete Vincent, Danielle Vincent, Justin Vincent, Tina (Neal) Rolli, Michael Rickey, Heather (Jasson) Haney, Robert (Katy Hillyer) Hilliker III and Alec Sanner; numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his first wife Sally Jo (Kothe) Hilliker, whom he married on July 8, 1955 until her passing on September 16, 1998. His second wife, Myra B. (Colaner) Hilliker, whom he married on September 6, 2002, until her passing on January 16, 2015; and two beloved children Robynne Striker and Wendy Jo Rickey.
Funeral services for Robert will be held at 8 p.m., on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville, with the Rev. Mark Unrue officiating.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, May 14, 2015 (three hours prior to services) at the funeral home.
