VERNON EUGENE MISHLER

Vernon Eugene Mishler, age 94, of Dover, formerly of Uhrichsville,  passed away August 28, 2022, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, following a lengthy illness.

Vernon was born on June 3, 1928 in Gnadenhutten, the son of the late Charles S. and Elizabeth (Packer) Mishler.

Vernon graduated from Gnadenhutten High School and Bliss College in Columbus, where he completed a course in senior accounting.  He was employed at the State Auditor’s Office, was a founding member of the Twin City Water Board, a member of the Twin City Hospital Board, a Mill Twp. Clerk for 2 terms, a board member of Indian Village Saving and Loan in Gnadenhutten and was employed at Molly Stark Hospital.  Vernon loved to travel by Amtrak train.  He collected juke boxes, was a youth choir director at Grace United Methodist Church, where he was a member and an adult Sunday School teacher and Lay leader at Grace United Methodist and Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Vernon is preceded in death by his wife Helen J. (Patterson) Mishler, whom he married August 3, 1957 at the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church.  Helen passed away June 6, 2014 and two sisters Josephine Linter and twin Verna Jean Steinbach.

He leaves behind his children Craig E. (Crystal) Mishler of Uhrichsville and Shelye Jo (Jim Trainer) Mishler of Parkland, Florida; one grandson Adam (Emily) Mishler of Canfield; two great grandchildren Isabel and Elijah Mishler and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Vernon will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022, at 1p.m., at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville, Pastor Jim McConnell officiating.  Burial will follow at Gnadenhutten Clay Union Cemetery in Gnadenhutten.

Calling hours will be from 12 to 1 p.m., (one hour prior to services) on Friday, September 2, 2022, at the funeral home.
