WALTER LEE ROBERTS

Walter Lee Roberts, age 84, of Dennison, O., passed away January 31, 2025, in Springfield, O., following a short illness.

Born November 9, 1940, in Midvale, O., Walt is the son of the late William and Lala Wilma (Upshaw) Roberts.

After graduating from Dennison High School, Walt enlisted in the United States Army and served from May 25, 1966 until April 14, 1968.  He was employed at Penn Central Railroad for 10 years, Miracle Adhesive in New Philadelphia for 14 years and East Sparta Ceramic Tile for 5 years.  He retired at the age of 62.  Walt was a lifetime member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Dennison, where he was a trustee, usher, cook and janitor.  He enjoyed class B Bowling and was a former member of the Masonic J. B. Easley III.

Walt is survived by his daughter Yolanda Evans of Harlem, GA and a daughter he helped raise as his Christina Harris of Macon, GA; siblings Gwendolyn (Earl) Porter of Springfield, O., Kendra Searcy of Shellville, GA, Dave Roberts of Springfield, O., Harry (Shirley) Roberts of Springfield, O., Anthony (Lisa) Roberts of Springfield, O., and Gene Roberts of Springfield, O.; along with six granddaughters and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Walt is preceded in death by his siblings Craig Roberts, Clara Berrien, Frank Roberts and William Roberts.

Funeral services for Walt will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Dennison, with the Pastor Desire Brown officiating.

Graveside services will follow at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville, with the New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445, conducting military services.

Calling hours will be from 10 to 11:30, on Saturday, at the church.
