ERNEST DEAN DOANE

Ernest Dean Doane, age 68, of Tippecanoe, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Akron General, following a brief illness.

Born March 29, 1952, in Dennison, Dean was the son of the late Walter and Anna (Tidrick) Doane.

In 1972, Dean graduated from Lakeland High School.  He retired from Bill Hawk Inc. after 33 years of employment and he worked part time for Washington Twp.  He was also a member of the Washington Twp. Fire Department for 50 years. Dean loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.  He coached Little League for 13years and was a member of the Freeport Farmers Sportsman Club and a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Tippecanoe.

On March 10, 1972, Dean married Sharon (Moore) Doane, who survives of the home.  Also surviving are their children Travis (Bethany) Doane, Tracy (Tim) Ferguson and Tonya (Rick) Stillion; siblings Doris Crabtree, Kenny Doane, Ruth Edwards, Karen Sue Walton, Stella (Dan) Gibson and Maxine; grandchildren Cierra (Taylor) Dryden, Madison Ferguson, Duncan Ferguson, Koby Ferguson, Thomas Doane, Kasey Cross, Bailey Cross, Miranda Stillion, Chase Stillion, Luke Stillion, Bryden Doane and Lauren Doane; great grandchildren Remington Harvey, Jaxson Compston and Addison Winland; his cat Persy and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dean is preceded in death by his siblings Elden “Tex” Doane, Faye Terakedis, Marla Mahaffey, Alice Doane, Bob Doane, Ralph Doane, Melvin Doane and Wayne Doane.

Funeral services for Dean will be held immediately following the Washington Twp. Fireman’s Services at 1p.m., on Monday, November 30, 2020, at the Mt. Carmel Church in Tippecanoe, with the Pastor David Koch and Sandra Cappel officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt Carmel Cemetery in Tippecanoe.

Calling hours will be from 11 to 1 (two hours prior to services) on Monday, November 30, 2020. Masks and social distancing will be required.
