JAMES FREDERICK SHAMEL
James Frederick Shamel, age 79, of Uhrichsville, passed away at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, on November 15, 2020, following a period of declining health.
Born December 24, 1940, in Uhrichsville, Jim is the son of the late John F. "Fred" and Helen L. "Lucille" (Ringler) Shamel.
Jim graduated from Uhrichsville High School and was employed as a machinist for 33 years and at the BP Gas Station at McCauley Drive in Uhrichsville for 12 years. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, a member of the Tuscora Stamp Club, and a Reserve Deputy for the Tuscarawas County Sheriff Department for 25 years. He was an avid stamp collector and enjoyed spending time with his family and attending many events for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife Helen J. (Beal) Shamel, who he married December 24, 1959; his children Debbie (Brian) Cope of Uhrichsville, Marla (Mark) Miskimen of Dennison and Jim (Marcia) Shamel of Dennison; his sister Bonnie (Dave) Harmon of Gnadenhutten; grandchildren Julie (Josh) Galloway, David (Brooke) LeBlanc, Toria (Leland) Kendrick, Caitlyn Miskimen, Christopher Miskimen, Carson Shamel, Emma Shamel and Jackson Shamel; great grandchildren Bradyn, Parker and Layne Galloway and Asher, London and Ryker LeBlanc.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother Bob Shamel.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial can be made to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
