WALTER “WADDIE” HENRY

Walter “Waddie” Henry, age 90, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016, at the Claymont Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born September 14, 1926 in Uhrichsville, Waddie was the son of the late Ray T. and Hannah Catherine (Eckhardt) Henry.

In addition to his parents, Waddie is preceded in death by 1 sister Mary Margaret Herron and 5 brothers John, Ray, Robert, Gene and Earl Henry.

In 1946, Waddie graduated from Uhrichsville High School, where he was an outstanding basketball player.  On September 23, 1951, at the First United Methodist Church in Uhrichsville, Waddie married Barbara J. (Long) Henry.  He was a lifelong resident of the area, and a member of the First United Methodist Church.  Waddie was employed at the former Gibbs Chevrolet, and as a painter at the former Warner & Swazey Co. for 20 years.  He retired from the Claymont School system as a mechanic after 20 years of employment.  Waddie served on the Uhrichsville Council for 2 terms and was a life member of the Uhrichsville Eagles.

Waddie is survived by his wife Barbara Henry of the home; his children Brenda Kay (David) Fellers of Uhrichsville, Ann (Dave) Henry Woodford of Lewis Center, O., Robert Timothy (Kim) Henry of Tappan Lake, Richard Jay (Diana) Henry of Uhrichsville and David Eugene (Cheryl) Henry of Uhrichsville; 1 sister Gert Dalpaiz of Uhrichsville; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Waddie will be held at 7 p.m., on Monday, October 17, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church at Uhrichsville, with the Rev. Don Kraps officiating.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 7 p.m., on Monday, October 17, 2016 (one hour prior to services) at the church.
